Grace was ill in the hospital on her birthday in 2020, with no known treatment. She went to a nearby clinic in early May when she was feeling unwell. By June, though, her illness had gotten worse, and she was admitted to Aga Khan Hospital.

A diagnosis eluded the physicians. She had to relearn how to walk, sit, and stand as a result of the disease. She was tortured by the mental and physical suffering the illness brought upon her.

Grace wept uncontrollably through the night. Her second visit to the hospital was when the physicians discovered the problem; therefore, part of her recovery was miraculous. For her to fully restore her mobility, rehabilitation was required.
