Azimio: Raila’s AUC Candidature is a matter of national pride & image
While endorsing Raila’s bid, Azimio stated that support for Raila was not a partisan political issue but a matter of national image.
Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition currently asserts that their coalition leader Raila Odinga’s AUC candidature is a matter of national pride and image.
The opposition coalition reaffirmed its support for Raila in a briefing to the press by Jubilee secretary-general Jeremiah Kioni soon after the coalition’s summit meeting on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the SKM complex in Nairobi.
They went on to say that as a coalition, they were pooling their resources to ensure the former prime minister won the seat.
Simultaneously, the alliance urged the nation to provide Raila with all the necessary backing to secure the seat.
While endorsing Raila’s bid, Azimio stated that support for Raila was not a partisan political issue but a matter of national image.
A statement from Azimio, which Jeremiah Kioni read, asserted that it is the coalition’s opinion that Rt. Hon. Odinga’s appointment is best for the nation and the East African Community. To do this, they appreciate the support that Rt. Hon. Odinga has received from neighbouring countries and people around the continent.
The Azimio One Kenya coalition also expressed their confidence in their coalition leader, saying that they are inspired by their party leader’s independent efforts to win the seat without solely depending on state endorsement. They also stated that they are prepared to reach out to friends and other leaders in the community to lend support to their leader’s candidature.
The coalition also reaffirmed its resolve to remain unified in keeping the government responsible and defending Kenyans’ rights.
The Coalition went on to claim that they will support Kenyans’ rights to affordable housing, fewer taxes, and a functioning economy that ensures respectable livelihoods in the same way that they back Mr. Odinga for the AU.
