Recent developments reveal a significant move by the United Nations to prompt Kenya’s deployment of its police force to Haiti, as reported by Kenyans.co.ke.

The UN council is reportedly exerting pressure on President William Ruto to address the escalating violence outside the Port-au-Prince Metropolitan area, necessitating swift intervention from Kenya.

Part of the report states, “The spread of violence outside the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area calls for the reinforcement of police forces and the deployment as quickly as possible of the multinational security support mission.”

Despite a high court order blocking the deployment, filed by Ekuru Aukot, President William Ruto had previously entered into an agreement with the UN Security Council regarding the deployment of Kenyan police officers to Haiti.

Simultaneously, leaders of the Azimio la Umoja coalition, headed by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, are in a crisis meeting to discuss the final report from the National Dialogue Committee. This follows the recent dismissal of talks by Martha Karua and Eugene Wamalwa, leaders of the Narc Kenya and DAP Kenya parties, respectively, for failing to address key issues affecting ordinary Kenyans.
