On 4th Dec 2023 – Francis Atwoli, the secretary general of the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU), chastised Kenyans for attributing the country’s high cost of living to President William Ruto.
Speaking to senior editors on Saturday, the seasoned trade unionist recalled Ruto’s promises to Kenyans during his campaign.
President Ruto was clear about his objectives to create the country with the backing of all Kenyans, according to the longest-serving secretary general of the COTU.
Atwoli claims that President Ruto is currently asking Kenyans for resources so he can fulfill his campaign promise to develop the country.
“People are crying about the cost of living. Some are complaining that we voted for William Ruto.”
However, Atwoli stated that President William Ruto made it very evident during the campaigns that Kenyans would develop Kenya.
Atwoli contends that Kenyans must accept Ruto’s manifesto for the next five years and give him time to carry it out.
Kenyans need to be aware that the Kenya Kwanza Alliance government will remain in power until 2027 and possibly even 2032, according to the long-serving head of COTU.
“We must accept for him to implement his government. There are some situations that you cannot change. It is either five years or ten years. Constitutionally, you cannot change,” he said.
