Of the 22 Cabinet Secretaries nominated by President William Ruto, Davis Chirchir, the Secretary of Energy, is the least effective, according to the most current Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA) poll.
Chirchir received a pitiful 19% approval rating in a poll between November 25 and December 7, 2023, indicating that people were not happy with his performance.
The poll results also highlighted top-performing Cabinet Secretaries in Ruto’s government.
Kithure Kindiki, the interior code supervisor, was in the lead with a 65% approval rating.
Other effective Cabinet Secretaries were Kipchumba Murkomen in Roads, Ezekiel Machogu in Education, and Musalia Mudavadi Prime Cabinet Secretary and Minister of Foreign Affairs, all of whom received favorable ratings above 50%.
Prominent approval scores were also awarded to cabinet secretaries, including Eliud Owalo in ICT & Digital Economy, Susan Nakhumincha in Health, and Aden Duale in Defence.
The poll emphasized the problems and difficulties that President William Ruto’s administration is facing, such as rising living expenses and inflation, corruption, repaying debt, pressure from the opposition, and the declining value of the ksh.
Cs with no Trips Abroad according to Tifa Poll
According to the most recent TIFA survey, Cabinet Secretaries Kithure Kindiki and Ezekiel Machogu for the Interior and Education, respectively, have not traveled abroad.

The surveys conducted between November 25, 2023, and December 7, 2023, revealed that neither Kindiki nor Machogu had traveled overseas. Kipchumba Murkomen traveled abroad six times, Eliud Owalo twelve times, Susan Nakhumicha three times, Mithika Linturi nine times, and Musalia Mudavadi sixteen times.
Nairobi ranked highest among the places visited by Cabinet Secretaries, accounting for 32% of the members’ visits, even though just 11% of Kenyans live in the capital city.
At sixteen percent, the Coast region—which is home to nine percent of the nation’s population—was the second most popular destination for CSs, followed by the Central Rift region (12 percent). This instance involves a lower percentage than the nation’s average of 17%.
Surprisingly, more people live in the Mt. Kenya region than in any other region in Kenya—22 percent of the nation’s total population. Nevertheless, just 11% of the CS visits were made there.
