Starlet Wahu; Pastor Kanyari Younger Sister Murdered in an Airbnb Apartment in South B

On Friday, January 5, 2024; Police attached to Industrial Area Police Station arrested a middle-aged man on suspicion of killing a 24-year-old woman, Starlet Wahu Mwangi, the younger sister of televangelist and Prophet Victor Kanyari, in an Airbnb flat in South B, Nairobi.

The socialite, dressed in a short red dress, was seen walking behind the man named John Mutara as they entered the flat through the lift and checked in, according to CCTV footage from the property that was made public.

The manager of the block then called in distress, alerting police that someone had been murdered inside the flat. When the police arrived, they discovered that the house was locked from the outside, so they had to smash the locks to get inside.

Here, they discovered Wahu’s lifeless body close to the door. It was covered in blood, and there were several bruises and knife wounds all over his thighs—clear evidence of a fight that had taken place inside the flat.

“We found the woman had bled to death. The victim suffered a quick death,” Judith Nyongesa, the police commander in Makadara, informed the press.

Recovered from the scene were items that included an HIV testing kit with negative findings, suggesting that both Wahu and the man had previously tested negative for the virus. Used condoms, the victim’s clothing, a cell phone, alcohol, and a knife that was allegedly used in the murder were among the other items found.

Who Killed Starlet Wahu?

The flat was thought to be an Airbnb that Wahu and a suspect in detention, John Matara, rented out, so the police promptly closed off the area and began investigating the cause of death.

With the assistance of detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the cops were able to track Matara down and locate him receiving treatment for a stab wound at Mbagathi Hospital.

Investigations are being conducted on Wahu’s relationship with her alleged killer. Wahu died from hemorrhage, or the loss of blood from a ruptured blood vessel, according to postmortem examinations.

Televangelist, Pastor Kanyari Speaks on Scarlet Wahu’s Death

The televangelist Kanyari has spoken out over Scarlet Wahu Mwangi’s murder in the Nairobi South B neighborhood. In an interview with Nairobi News, Kanyari voiced his disbelief at the horrific deed. On December 31, Kanyari disclosed that they had spent time together.

“I am heartbroken; she was doing so well in life. We last met on Christmas, and on December 31, we spent time together at home. We had not seen the man before. We learned about him after her death. This is so tragic for us, the family, and even her friends. May her soul rest in peace,” Pastor Kanyari shared.
