DP President Rigathi Gachagua has promised Kapsabet High School a new bus

This comes after the school’s bus was involved in a road accident on Saturday that took the lives of a student and a teacher.

Speaking during his visit to the school on Sunday, the DP said he would communicate with his boss, President William Ruto about gifting the school a new bus.

Gachagua promised to talk to the president later in the day saying he was sure that the President would give Kabsabet another bus to replace that one so that the school can continue with the tours.

The President is an alumnus of the institution.

At the same time, the deputy president warned school bus drivers to be careful while ferrying students on the roads.

Gachagua who was reportedly told about the bus that had been written off, gave a commitment on behalf of President William Ruto, “I will talk to him later in the day and I’m sure, there’s no doubt that the President will give you another bus,” he said

The DP deemed this necessary so that the academic giants could continue with occasional tours across the country and other transport activities.

According to a police report on Saturday, the bus driver lost control while negotiating a sharp bend and landed at the bottom of a steep slope.

A student and a teacher succumbed to injuries while the rescued victims were distributed across Kabarnet, Marigat Mission, and Baringo County Referal Hospital. The bodies were moved to Kabarnet.

Area Police Commissioner Stephen Kutwa who confirmed the incident said the bus had 63 passengers on board; 61 students, one teacher, and a driver on board at the time of the accident.

Two people were confirmed dead and several others injured.

According to a police report, one teacher and one student were fatally injured, five students were seriously injured while 19 others suffered minor injuries.
