Hassan Joho; Why I deserve the ODM leader position if Raila Wins the AU Job

Date:

Former Mombasa Gov. Hassan Joho has broken his silence by listing reasons why he feels he is the best candidate to fit the ODM party’s top leadership position if Azimio One Kenya Coalition party leader Raila Odinga clinches the AU Commission Chairmanship slot.

Speaking to the media, the former Mombasa county Boss alluded that he is the most deserving to be Raila’s heir. He went on further to state that over the years he has learned many fundamental aspects of leadership from the Kenyan Veteran politician Raila Odinga.

In his statement, Joho praised Azimio’s boss claiming that through him he has inherited courage, democracy, Kenya values, and the rights of Kenyans as well as fighting for Kenyans with no fear.

Joho also added that Raila is still here and we need him to be here, although if he succeeds in clinching the AU chairmanship position, Raila is going to be two hours from Mombasa.

The then-Mombasa county boss added that since he began his political journey in 2004, he has been under the leadership of Raila. He also denied rumors that he only became vocal, claiming that he has years of experience in ODM.

The former Governor claimed that as a result of his loyalty to Raila and the ODM party, he lost his business and came dangerously close to death.

‘ I have given up my life for Raila over years not just for six months. He chastised his critics saying, ‘ You are acting in this way due to potential succession conversations, let’s respect each other.”

John stated that he had supported the ODM party through many highs and lows since the party’s founding.

The race to succeed Raila Odinga has been a subject of intense debate among ODM party members hoping to succeed him.

Raila Odinga nominated former Kakamega County Gov. Wycliffe Oparanya and Hassan Joho to succeed him if elected to the position of AU Commission chairmanship.

However, several lawmakers from his home region Luo Nyanza desire that all qualified candidates participate in the succession race rather than simply Oparanya and Joh.

As the party’s cornerstone, they contended that the area ought to receive a fair proportion of leadership positions.

ODM party is expected to conduct elections next month to elect new representatives at all levels starting from grassroots to national leadership.

For the past months, the ODM party has been holding countrywide new membership recruitment drives.
