A man hacks his housemaid and his three children in Silibwet, Bomet County
Shockwaves shook the neighborhood in Kipkebe Village, Bomet Central Constituency, as a man whose identity is yet to be revealed hacked four people to death.
According to reports, the man allegedly attacked his kids with a panga on Friday night, cutting them to death before running away. The police are looking for him.
His oldest son managed to escape the attack by hiding behind the curtain in the main house, while his father sought the bedroom for him.
He sounded the alarm, drawing the attention of surrounding residents who hurried to the incident and took his younger brother to Chelymo, a nearby hospital, from whence he was sent to Tenwek Hospital for specialized care.
But while being transported to the hospital, the form two student from Nyambaria Boys Secondary School in Nyamira County, who had extensive cuts, passed away from his wounds.
As word diffused that a man who was supposed to guard them had killed his family members, hundreds of villagers flocked to the homestead.

Sub County Director of Criminal Investigations Geoffrey Omwenga and Bomet Central Sub County Deputy Police Commander Bashir Ali confirmed the incident.
“After the assault, the suspect fled, but police have important leads and are pursuing him,” Mr. Bashir said.
The police identified the victims of the attack as 16-year-old house helper Sharon Chepkoech, 14-year-old Lewis Kipng’eno, 2-year-old Lulu Cheruto, and 8-year-old Abigael Cherono.
The Bomet Central Sub County Deputy Police Commander asserted that they are confident that they would apprehend the suspect from his hiding place.
He added
“They suffered multiple deep cuts inflicted by a sword which has not yet been recovered.”
According to reports, the suspect went to the Silibwet Trading Center and tried to persuade his wife Naomi Chepkoech to close the store and accompany him home.
“He tried to lure his wife saying he was unwell and required her attention at home, but his wife declined to close the shop on such a busy market day,” Mr. Said said.
The deceased victims’ bodies have been taken to Longisa Referral Hospital for preservation in advance of a postmortem examination and release to the family for interment.
